Vice President Biden and Council of Economic Advisers Chair Romer Release New Recovery Act Report

The President’s Council of Economic Advisers Chair Christina Romer held a conference call on the release of the latest quarterly report to Congress detailing the impact of the Recovery Act on the economy. She and Vice President Biden officially released the report at an earlier event. The CEA presents a report to Congress each quarter detailing the effects of the Recovery Act on the overall economy, including an assessment of jobs saved and created, among other economic factors. House Minority Leader John Boehner released a statment in response to the report, criticizing the stimulus act.

The $787 Billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) was signed into law by President Obama on February 17th, 2009. Known as the economic stimulus law, it was passed to jumpstart the U.S. economy as well as to save and create more than 3.5 million jobs over the next two years.
