The transition between Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald
Ford was one of the most dramatic in U.S. history. Attorney
Benton Becker was a key advisor to Ford when he was
deliberating on the issue of pardoning Nixon. Becker
recently offered his perspective at the Ford Presidential
Library.

In the book, Mr. Marshall disputes the popular notion that General Custer suffered from poor planning and the underestimation of the number of Lakota. That in fact general Custer was defeated by a highly skilled and better trained army.

On August 28th, 1955, fourteen year old Emmett Till was brutally murdered in Mississippi. Till’s racially motivated murder served as a catalyst in the Civil Rights movement. Marilyn Nelson discusses her book, "A Wreath for Emmett Till,” a collection of poems created as a written memorial for the young man.

On March 31st, 1968 Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered a sermon in National Cathedral in Washington, DC. It would prove to be his last. A few days later on March 4th he was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee.
